5 WAYS TO HELP YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER CREATE CAPTIVATING IMAGES

  1. TIMELINE

We’ll work together to create a timeline that maximizes your day. Your wedding is about you and your fiancé committing to each other in front of your closest friends and family. Time with your people is crucial on this day. But amazing photos are so important to you too. So let’s work together and make it happen!

Timeline suggestions

Every couple’s day is unique, but these are some estimated timeframes for portraits…

  • Couples - 30 minutes

  • Wedding Party - 30 minutes

  • Family Photos - 30 minutes

  • Sunset photos - 10 minutes

2. Lighting

In photography, lighting is EVERYTHING. The better the lighting is, the better your photographs will be. Good lighting is usually considered soft indirect sunlight, shade or golden hour - the hour near sunrise and sunset.

Great lighting isn’t always possible, so let me know if your getting ready location, ceremony or reception is low lighting. But don’t worry, my equipment and skills can still work magic!

Lighting Suggestions

  • When choosing a place to get ready, find a place with plenty of soft natural light. It could be a room full of windows, sky- lights or even a front porch.

  • Leave time during your reception for 15 minutes of golden hour sunset photos. You won’t regret it! Check your sunset time here.

  • If it’s a lowlight reception venue, ask your DJ for only one white spot light during your first dances.

3. UNPLUGGED CEREMONY

An unplugged ceremony is asking your guests to leave their phones in their pockets during the ceremony. The reason for this is two-fold…

1) Guests remain present and undistracted

2) Guests don’t get in the way of the photographers + videographers.

UNPLUGGED Suggestions

Ask your guests to leave their phone in their pockets during the ceremony!

4. First Look

The first look is considered the moment you and your partner see each other the first time on your wedding day. Some couples choose to see each other before the ceremony and others wait until the ceremony. There’s lot of good reasons for each and I respect and work with both ways!

First Look Suggestions

From solely a photo perspective… seeing each other before the ceremony has its perks…

  • photos done while hair/make-up/outfits are all perfectly in place at the beginning of the day

  • photos done before your guests arrive, leaving more time to capture candids of you and your guests

5. Emotional EXpression

According to Wikipedia, emotional expression is behavior that communicates an emotional state or attitude. Emotional expressions include facial movements like smiling or scowling, simple behaviors like crying, laughing, or saying "thank you," and more complex behaviors like writing a letter or giving a gift.
